My name’s Elyse (pronounced “Uh-lease”) and I’ve been teaching Kindergarten for 5 years! I did a few months in 2nd grade while a teacher was on maternity leave and since I had just moved I was desperate for a job! I knew I always wanted to teach Kinder but after that I was 110% sure! For some unknown reason, I love all things apple (no, not the brand) but that is how the blog name was born. The ironic part is that I don’t really care for eating apples, so I always have to make it clear to my students that I like apple things not apples themselves! (Found that out when I started getting apples every few days from my first class!)
I’m a Florida girl, born and raised, and graduated from the University of Florida in 2008 with my Masters in Education. I love all things orange and blue! GOGATORS!!
I got married in the summer of 2013 in the mountains of North Carolina. My dog is my favorite thing in the world (besides my husband, of course) so of course she was in attendance! My husband is a business and life coach so he’s great at “listening” to my school talk and is a big positive influence in my life!
Just a girl and her dog! (Yes, this is framed in my house!)

One of my absolute favorite resources is this parts of a plant notebook activity! 🌱I always brought in the food items for my students to build all of the plant parts and then taste each part. Then they would match up and label the parts of a plant and draw/write the food for each part.Have you tried doing this with your students??bit.ly/plantsnotebook... See MoreSee Less
