My First Five for Friday!

It’s a wonderful Friday … no school and my first Five for Friday linkup with Doodle Bugs Teaching!

Next week our 3-5th graders start their FCAT state testing. So, this week we had a spirit week to get them pumped up! Even my Kinders got to participate! On Thursday we had a pep rally and dressed like rockstars since our school theme is “Rock n Roll” this year.

I have some pretty cute rockers!!

Even with our fun spirit days (Tuesday was “block out shades of meaning with your sunglasses”), we did manage to get some learning done! Learning with Mrs. Leeby has a fantastic pack for The Very Hungry Caterpillar and other Eric Carle stories. Since The Very Hungry Caterpillar is one of my all time favs we just had to include some of her activities throughout the week.

Check out Mrs. Leeby’s full pack here!

We’ve been working hard on our sight words so I took advantage of the 4-day week to review, review, review! We had loads of fun making sight words rings from Whimsy Workshop Teaching! Although I kept finding rings all over the floor, we’ll definitely do this again because it’s such an exciting way to practice our words!

Click here to see the sight word rings pack.

Mrs. Leeby and her amazing creativity was getting some love this week in our class. Our newest and most favorite math center has got to be part of her Snap Block Math pack! My kiddos were so excited to see these cards and then, oh my…create their own patterns with my blocks when they finished! Playing and learning all mixed together!

It’s true what they say, April showers …(hopefully bring May flowers)… we’ve been getting some rain action here in Florida. I guess that’s why my April Showers Word Work Activities are appropriate for this time of year! We’ve been reviewing digraphs for the last couple of weeks and the kids really rocked this digraph sorting and recording activity!

You can find the full pack in my store by clicking on the link above or here.

So happy for no school today! It’s time to put work to the side and enjoy a rainy, overcast day at the movies with my hubby (finally seeing Divergent!!) I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. Don’t forget to check out my store on Sunday for a special Easter Sunday sale!

Good movie! Four wasn't too bad to look at but Channing Tatum would've had my vote!! πŸ™‚

Pizza Co. practices math skills like: one-to-one correspondence, subtraction, money, and fractions. I absolutely LOVE that we get to work on basic subtraction and fractions (put toppings on half of the pie). Another thing I LOVE about this game is that I'm able to put it on junior mode so she can do most of it with just a little assistance.

This is going to be a favorite game for a long time!!
